Abstract

Mobile phones have become an important part of students’ daily lives and educational experiences. With the rapid development of digital technology, mobile phones are increasingly being used as tools for accessing educational resources, attending online classes, communicating with teachers, participating in academic activities, and developing independent learning skills. The present study focuses on examining the impact of mobile phones on students’ learning, considering both their educational benefits and potential challenges. Mobile phones provide students with convenient access to e-books, digital libraries, educational videos, online assessments, and learning applications. These resources can support conceptual understanding, encourage self-directed learning, and facilitate communication and collaboration beyond the traditional classroom. However, excessive or inappropriate mobile phone use may also contribute to distraction, reduced concentration, poor time management, and interruptions in academic activities. The educational impact of mobile phones may vary according to students’ usage patterns, learning objectives, digital literacy, and the guidance provided by teachers and parents. The study aims to understand how mobile phone usage relates to students’ learning experiences, study habits, classroom engagement, and academic performance. It also highlights the importance of responsible digital practices and the effective integration of mobile technology into educational settings. A systematic investigation of these factors can help teachers, parents, and educational institutions develop appropriate strategies for promoting productive mobile phone use. The study emphasizes that mobile phones should be considered neither entirely beneficial nor entirely harmful; rather, their educational value depends largely on how, why, and under what conditions they are used. The findings of such an investigation may contribute to a better understanding of technology-supported learning and encourage a balanced approach to mobile phone use in education.
